Dumpling House is a family story that started in Harbin, in the north of China. Our mum, Shujie Yang, is a fifth-generation dumpling maker, and generations back our family even folded dumplings for the Chinese Royal family.

Lei came to New Zealand more than twenty years ago, and once Mum joined her in Hamilton the two of them started sharing the food they grew up on. We still fold every dumpling by hand to order, using the same recipes and techniques passed down through the family. Over the years our customers have become regulars and our regulars have become friends, and that's still the best part of the job.
